6:01 am
>> when i first met vic through the ravens, so impressed talking football with him. every time i visited there it was great to talk with vic. i'm sure that two years before we got vic, we were looking for a defensive coordinator that i asked vic 23 he would come to stanford and be the defensive coordinator and he declined. the following year he declined again. >> jim harbaugh the coach from the stanford brought a lot of coaches to the 49ers. jim is tightly wound seems to be letting loose a little bit because he wants his player to relack at the super bowl. i think you told me the harbaugh brothers might have dinner tonight? >> yes. they might have dinner tonight. i don't know if they are going

it can handle a massive event. santa clara neighbors agree that this is a good move for the police department. >> depending on the culture or rivalry it can get rowdy. so i think definitely getting down there and seeing what the culture is inside the crowd, to keep fans and family safe and create a thank youture that families want to come out to. >> reporter: two officers, a sergeant and lieutenant, will be paid to go to the super bowl training session. a former police chief will go but he is paying his own way. the training session comes at at good time because they are tackling mardi gras and super bowl crowds at the same time. so it's a good time to take in that -- [ signal breakup ] live in santa clara, cate caugiran, cbs 5. >> hopefully sometime soon the 49ers will host one in santa clara. okay, michelle. i know you have been in the french quarter the last couple of days but you did a little traveling yesterday, didn't you? >> yes, we did. we actually went to uptown which is up the river and this is one area that was not affected or not flooded by

hurricane katrina. and i'll tell you, they take a lot of pride in their neighborhood. >> when the tourism department does commercials, they normally show line the downtown french quarter area. but they tend to leave out some of the more important neighborhoods that surround the city. my name is terrence higgins, born and raised here in new orleans. and right now we're uptown. mixed incomes, mixed ethnicities. you can walk two blocks that way and you'll be like in a higher scale neighborhood. and two blocks that way and be just a little bit of the ghetto, you know. i mean, the demographic here is wide. and it didn't flood in this area during katrina. this is like high ground. so it's almost like the safest place in new orleans. people are souping it up as fast as they can. so if you can find like some old house for a cheap price, it behooves you to snatch it and

renovate it and property values gonna skyrocket. so it's a vital part of the city, man. people don't really get to see it, you know, so and the historic part, too. it's got a lot of history. so this is another part of new orleans. >> reporter: that's hard to not see as much devastation as other parts of new orleans. in fact, that gentleman that we spoke to, he said the value of his house has tripled sense hurricane katrina and a lot of people are moving into that area. nowk frank, i have to tell you, we have seen the weather really shift right where we are in the heart of the french quarter. we have seen it shift probably in the last three minutes. this storm is coming. it just got cold. the wind is picked up. and you can see those dark clouds moving in. it's actually starting to rain now, too. that's why we had to relocate to an area where we are covered because that rain is coming down. >> i got to tell you, michelle,

6:09 am
witnesses say he was pushed into a car with two teenagers. police aren't saying why they have renewed their search for kevin but we do know cadaver dogs found bones under the concrete floor of the garage in the duplex. police say a man who lived in the house at the time matched the description of a man seen talking to kevin. that person has since died. but we spoke to a neighbor who knew the two men who lived here back in '84. >> i don't know if they did. i don't know. but i'm just saying that they were investigated by the police since kevin was taken. they had the dog, a black dog, and they were taken to be questioned and they were let go. >> reporter: police say the people who live in the duplex now are not suspects. kevin's mother lives in concord. she says these developments have her simply numb. the fbi is continuing to work the case.
